It was announced this week at Mountain Speedway that Balliet's Country Corners will become the division sponsor for its modified division. Along with the deal that was worked out with the promoters on the purse, owner, Matt Balliet is also giving away a $25 gift certificate to each heat winner, and a $15 certificate for each heat runner-up in the division. The certificates are to be used at Balliet's Country Corners, which is a Sunoco gas station, deli, and will soon have the addition of an ice cream stand. It is conveniently located at the intersection of St. Johns Road and Rt. 309 near Drums, PA, not far from the speedway.
Matt has been around Mountain Speedway in one shape or form since it re-opened in 1988. He is currently the crew chief for the 22X modified, owned and driven by Don Wagner. Matt also serves on the #41 James Pritchard Motorsports Busch Grand National North team, which Wagner drives for on a part-time basis.
Balliet admitted that he is sure the sponsorship will help the business that he and his wife, Barb established last year, but Balliet also noted that he wanted to 'give back' to the track and drivers he has know so well over the past decade.
