With mothers receiving free admission to the speedway Sunday, plenty of drivers took part in the Mother’s Day Special at Mountain Speedway.  Earl Paules held off Shaun Carrig to score the sport modified victory and Ron Frees extended his point lead after winning his second straight super stock main event.  Ryan Truex outlasted the field and notched the win in the legend feature.  Brian Braddock scored the micro stock verdict and Tyler Truex scored his very first asphalt bandolarro main event win.
After running heat races in the afternoon, the top six drivers in the sport modified division redrew for starting spots to start the 40-lap main event.
Rick Zacharias and Shaun Carrig shared the front row and when the green flag flew, Zacharias shot into the early lead.  Earl Paules started third and quickly moved into second by lap two.
Paules finally found the opening he was looking for when Zacharias slid up the race track in turn one.  He grabbed the lead as Carrig closed in on Zacharias for second.
With fifteen laps in the books, John Wilbur grabbed third from Carrig and began to reel in the second place car, but only a few laps later Wilbur ran up high off of turn two, which allowed Carrig to retake the position.
The top two remained the same over the course of the event, with Carrig and Wilbur swapping the third position from time-to-time.
The final caution flag waved with four laps remaining when Tom Kearns spun in turns one and two.  Wilbur was slow getting up to speed on the restart and lost the fourth spot to Jason Hearne.
Paules held off Carrig over the remaining laps and went on to score his first sport modified win of the season.  Carrig crossed the stripe in second, followed by Zacharias, Hearne and Kevin Davison.
Earl Paules, Shaun Carrig and Scott Riggleman were heat race winners.
After a six car redraw for starting positions, the super stocks hit the speedway for their 25-lap feature.  Gregg Miranda led the field down to the drop of the green, but lost the top spot to Ron Frees after one circuit.
Frank Reakes took command of the event only three laps later, but the two were sent to the rear on lap eleven after Frees made contact and spun Reakes off of turn two.
Miranda inherited the lead for the restart and held the top spot with Nick Gargiulo in second.
The two tangled on lap thirteen, and again, the third place car inherited the lead.  This time is was Paul Thomas.  Thomas led until lap twenty-three, when he spun after being overtaken by Frees and Reakes.
Reakes attempted to get by Frees over the remaining laps, but had to settle for second.  Jerry Stanzione, Rick Koph and Bill Vanderveen completed the top five.
Ron Frees and Gregg Miranda were heat race winners.
The top six legend qualifiers redrew for starting spots with Ryan Truex starting on the pole.  Truex immediately jumped out front in the 15-lap feature, which was cut short from 20-laps because of time.
By halfway, Truex led over Roger Coss, Derek Hopkinson, Mike Alcaro and Scott Hubler.
Many caution periods plagued the event with the last coming on lap thirteen, when Malcolm Campbell spun in turn two.  Casey Robicheau and Bobby Baltera were also collected.
Truex had no trouble en route to the win over Coss, Hopkinson, Alcaro and Karl Heisler, but the worst wreck happened after the checkered flag.
Several cars were out of shape at the finish and with nowhere to go, Katrine Lotti’s car launched into the air down towards turn one.  The car barrel rolled once in mid air before slamming the turn one fence.
The red flag was displayed and miraculously, Lotti climbed from the car under her own power.
Heat race wins went to Roger Coss, Michael Stull and Ryan Truex.
Ten micro stocks took the green flag for a 15-lap feature race.  Brian Braddock led all of the laps, but it didn’t come easy, as he held off a hard charging Denny Hiddemen and former Mountain feature winner, Tom Ervin, to victory.  Nick Cottone and Jim Van Dine completed the top five.
Tyler Truex held off Robert Vassilatos to take his very first bandolarro win on asphalt in the 15-lap feature.
