May 25th Sport Mod Feature Finish Update
By:
Mountain Management
May
28, 2008
The
decision to disqualify the winner of the May 25 Sport Modified race has been
reversed. Although post race tech inspection did reveal a rules infraction,
an exhaustive and thorough review of the situation indicates that the part
in question has little if any bearing on the performance of that race car.
The Sport modified class incorporates a blend of several different sets of
rules in an effort to allow as many similar cars as possible to compete.
These rules are in a constant state of review and revision in order to keep
all types of cars as equal as possible.
It was never our intention to over regulate the class and enforce rules
which make little sense. We certainly have no desire to perpetuate nuisance
regulations found in certain rulebooks.
After careful consideration and investigation, we have come to the
conclusion that there is absolutely no performance difference between
aluminum or steel oil pans. Henceforth, all rulebooks in this class will be
purged of this and other unique and senseless rules. A copy of these changes
will be provided to any interested party.
In order to minimize any negative effects of this rather unique situation,
the original winner and the winner after the disqualification will both be
credited with a feature win. All other positions will remain as indicated on
the issued checks. Points will be adjusted accordingly.
