Mountain Speedway Set to Kick off July with “Summer Racefest”
By: Gene Ostrowski
June
24, 2008
Summer has
finally approached us and Mountain Speedway is proud to announce its
popular “Summer Racefest” program for July. The program is spread over
four weekends and consists of added divisions, extra-distance events,
double-points races, fan appreciation nights and much more.
The fan appreciation portion of each weekend will take place during
intermission. At that time, fans will have the opportunity to meet and
receive autographs from the Speedway’s drivers, who will have their
racing chariots parked on the speedway. Each week will showcase a few
divisions that will take place in the fan appreciation festivities. Any
drivers that plan to participate are asked to bring hero cards or items
to give away to the fans that show support for them.
Summer
Racefest Schedule and Additions
July 5th show will be one to remember!
Fireworks are planned at dusk, but round #4 of the PA Asphalt Modified
Championship Series will headline the evening with a full-blown 75-lap
modified feature event. With $2500 being paid to the winner, expect
many of the area’s hot shoes to make a run to the front of the field.
The Late
models, thrillers and 4 cyl. FWDs are also on the card for regular
feature events and a special 30-lap sport modified show has also been
added to the action-packed show. It will be the second time this season
where the sport modifieds will compete under the lights with Mountain’s
other divisions. There is also a $200 bonus to any steel “crate” mod if
they win the feature event. Although it is not an official points
event, every sport mod in attendance will receive 25 Mountain Speedway
driver points in the sport mod division.
Saturday, July 12
The modifieds will be on the card, along with the street stocks, TQ
midgets and the 4 cyl. FWDs. The TQs will run twin 15-lap features and
the 4 cyl. FWDs will compete 30-laps with double points on the line.
Saturday, July 19
Along with the Late Models, who will run a 50 lap-double points feature,
the thrillers will be running a 30 lap-double points event. The street
stocks are also on the card for a regular show. A special 20-lap PA
Asphalt Legend show has been added as well. For the first time this
season, the legend drivers will finally get the chance to compete under
the lights with Mountain’s other divisions in front of the Saturday
night crowd. Although it is not an official points event, every legend
in attendance will receive 25 Mountain Speedway driver points in the
P.A.L. Legend division.
The late model, street stock and thriller drivers will be on the track
at intermission for fan appreciation night.
Sunday,
July 20
With car counts on the rise, the sport modifieds, super stocks and PA
Asphalt Legends will share the spotlight with a Sunday afternoon show.
All divisions for the afternoon will be on the track at intermission for
fan appreciation day.
