Along with a regular card of racing scheduled, Mountain Speedway ran make up features from an August 10 rainout.  The make up features were completed, but rain came in and washed out the regular show.  Bobby Geibel notched his first career sport modified win at the speedway, as did Mike Alcaro in the legend cars.  Frank Reakes notched his first super stock victory of the season and Sandi Stull was victorious in the bandallero main event.

Mike Speeney was scheduled to start from the pole position in the 30-lap sport modified main event, but was pushed pit side after stalling on the speedway before the drop of the green flag.  The turn of events moved Robert Sutphin to the point.

Sutphin led the first circuit, and then was challenged by Donnie Hartzell.  Sutphin and Hartzell touched while coming out of turn two and Sutphin bounced off of the guiderail.  He was forced to the pits and did not rejoin the field.

Hartzell held the lead and Shaun Carrig moved into second by lap five.  Jason Hearne was third, followed by Rick Zacharias and Bobby Geibel.

After leading for nineteen circuits, Hartzell was bumped from the lead in turn four.  The change of events moved Geibel, who was third when the caution flew, up to the top spot.

Hartzell’s bad luck continued with a blown engine after the restart.  His day came to an end on lap twenty-three.

Geibel held off charges by Zacharias over the closing laps and drove off to his first sport modified victory at the speedway.  Zacharias finished second and Mike Skarbowski, Scott Riggleman and Randy McConnell completed the top five.

Frank Reakes led the super stock field to the drop of the green flag after starting from the pole position.  With one lap complete, Elliott Wohl held second, followed by Chip Wanamaker, Bill Vanderveen and Billy Cole.

Wanamaker picked off Wohl for second on lap thirteen, and then set his sights on Reakes.  Meanwhile, Cole held fourth and Ron Frees joined the top five.

The only two caution periods of the race came on lap nineteen.  First for an Eric Gerchak spin in turn three.  Caution waved again when Jason Arthoefer and Vanderveen tangled on the front stretch.

Green flag racing resumed and Reakes ran off to his first super stock win of the season.  Wanamaker settled for the second spot, followed by Frees, Wohl and Ralph Gargiulo.

The legend cars picked up their feature on lap four, which is where they were stopped during the rain plagued event on August 10.  Malcom Campbell was the leader at the time and was not on had at the speedway for the make-up event.  This moved Karl Heisler to the pole position.

Heisler held the lead for four circuits before being overtaken by Mike Alcaro on lap eight.  Derek Hopkinson moved to the second position, with Matt Maring, Joey Mattis and Mark Tischler in the top five.

A few quick caution flags flew over the early going and the last waved on lap thirteen when Greg Rittenhouse looped his ride in turn two.  Maring, who was having a stellar run, headed to the pits during that period.

Green flag racing resumed and Mattis overtook Hopkinson for second.  Hopkinson lost positions to Roger Coss and Tischler shortly after.

Despite challenges from Mattis, Alcaro took the checkers to win his first career event at the speedway.  Mattis settled for the runner-up spot and Coss, Hopkinson and Tischler completed the top five.

Sandi Stull overtook polesitter, Robert Vassilatos, Jr. on the first lap and drove off to score her second bandolarro victory of the season.

The regular events, which were plagued by rain, have been rescheduled for Sunday, October 12.
