Twenty-three street stocks took the stage Sunday at Mountain Speedway to honor of the late Mark Corbisiero in the 77-lap Mark Corbisiero Street Stock Memorial.  Eric Gerchak led the majority of the event and came away with the race win.  Seventeen-year-old Kyle Ebersole held off Brian DeFebo to score his first career modified victory and Nick Ross grabbed his sixth thriller victory of the season.  Jeff Biegley extended his points lead in the four cylinder FWDs after winning his sixth main event.

Heat racers were run and the top seven starters for The Cook’s Touch Catering 77-lap Mark Corbisiero Street Stock Memorial redrew for starting positions.  Steve Shultz drew the pole and hoped for a good run in the annual event.

With $777 to win, along with lap money and a $100 bonus from the Golden Carat Jewelry Store, the green flag was thrown.  The first caution flew without a single lap recorded when Brian Wozniak took a shot from behind after checking up.  Scott Meckes was collected as well.  Both drivers headed to the pits for repairs.  Shultz was also forced pit side with sheet metal damage.

The exchanged moved Brad Kline to the race lead, which he held for the first ten laps.  Eric Gerchak got underneath Kline off of turn two and took the race lead on the backstretch.  With twelve laps complete, Chip Wanamaker held second, followed by Kline, Rick Koph and Steve Clark.

Several cautions waved over the first half of the race, one of which flew on lap thirty-one when Elliott Wohl lost a wheel before hitting the backstretch wall.  Wannamaker gave up his second spot on the track to head to the pits for tires.  Koph, who was running third at the time headed to the pits as well.  He did not return back to the action.

Gerchak remained out front when green flag racing resumed, followed by Richie DiMarco, Kline, Eric Danyluk and Clark.

A competition caution flag was thrown on lap fifty, which gave the drivers to receive a drink of water on such a hot afternoon.

Relentless for his first win of the speedway this season, Gerchak drove off to the victory over DiMarco, Kline, Shultz and Wanamaker.  With his second place effort and with one points event still remaining on the schedule, DiMarco also won the street stock points championship.

Steve Clark, Richie DiMarco and Eric Gerchak won qualifying events.

Andy Walko led the modified field to the drop of the green flag after starting from the pole position.  Walko lurched into the early lead, followed by Kyle Ebersole, Brian DeFebo, Rusty Smith and Todd Baer.

Smith, who seemed to be fighting an ill handling race car, fell a couple of car lengths off of the leaders and fought with Baer for position.  Meanwhile, DeFebo pursued Ebersole for second and Ebersole worked Walko for the top spot.

With four laps completed, Ebersole moved under Walko and into the race lead in turn two.

DeFebo followed through as well, as did Smith.

Despite being pursued by the three-time modified track champion (DeFebo), Ebersole drove off to the victory.  It was the first of the seventeen year olds in his sophomore modified season.

DeFebo settled as the runner up, followed by Smith, Walko and Baer.

Andy Walko and Rusty Smith were heat race winners.

Richard Petey started from the pole in the 20-lap thriller main event but quickly lost the race lead to Jay Gould, the second place starter.

The only caution of the race flew when Mike Moyer, Jr. spun while battling with his father, Mike Moyer, Sr.

Green flag racing resumed and it didn’t take long for Nick Ross to complete a daring three-wide move on the inside to take the race lead.

With five laps in the books, Ross remained out front, followed by Scott Adams, Nick Shaw, Mike Moyer, Sr. and Bob Wink.

The time five remained the same at the mid race point, but over the last half of the event, Mike Moyer, Jr. turned on the heat.

First, Moyer overtook Shaw, then Wink.  Eventually he overtook his father for the third spot.

Consistent and fast, Ross went on to claim his sixth win of the season over Adams.  Mike Moyer, Jr. crossed the strip in third, followed by Mike Moyer, Sr. and Wink.

Mike Moyer, Jr. and Nick Ross were heat race winners.

Eric Banashefski led the four cylinder FWD division to the drop of the green flag in the 20-lap feature.  Banashefski shot into the race lead with Jake Oswald, Jessica McGlynn, Nikki Wachs and Jeff Biegley in tow.

Oswald drifted back in the field and Biegley got by Wachs for third before five laps were completed.

The caution flag waved on lap eight when Wachs and Ken Kleppinger tangled in turns one and two.  The duo tangled once again, this time in turn three after the restart.  Wachs’ car sustained damage and she retired from the event.

Green flag racing resumed and Biegley wasted no time and took the race lead from Banashefski on lap ten.

McGlynn began to experience problems with her car and fell out of the top five.

For the second week in a row and for the sixth time this season, Biegley cruised to the win.  Kleppinger finished second, followed by Banashefski, Bill Verwys, Sr. and Oswald.
