Mountain
Speedway recently announced that the 2009 racing season would kick off
on January 3, 2009, just after New Year’s Day with the running of the
popular bone stock “Mountain Madness” enduros.
The Mountain Madness Enduro Series schedule will comprise of several
events throughout the coarse of the season and the 3rd annual
“Frostbite- Three Degrees” enduro will be the first show to highlight
the 2009 racing schedule.
Run like a true to form enduro, the Mountain Madness Enduro Series
features relatively inexpensive "bone stock" automobiles for low budget
racers, helping make enduro racing more affordable for beginners and
masters alike. Both, the four cylinders and 6/8 cylinder divisions will
have a three wide rolling start. Without yellow flags, only red flags
will be thrown for serious incidents, or if a driver is in a dangerous
situation on the speedway. "Dead" cars will be left on the speedway.
The popular trophy trucks are also on the card for the afternoon.
The
Mountain Madness enduro events will be held rain, snow or shine. Race
fans that are looking to hear the roar of the engines for the first time
in 2009 will have the opportunity, as they have made the event a huge
success in the past, and this year should be no exception.
A portion of the
proceeds will be donated to a local charity and speedway officials will
soon be announcing the special charity to benefit from the first show of
the season.
The pit area will open at 9 AM and the grandstands will be open at 12 noon. The first enduro event is slated to roll off at 1 PM.
