A total of forty-three race cars took time Sunday during Mountain Speedway’s annual “pole day”.  Twenty five championship points were awarded to every driver that took time, with an additional twenty five bonus points going to the fastest qualifier in each division.

Kyle Ebersole was the first driver out in the modified division and was knock from the provisional pole when Andy Walko ran a lap under 14 seconds.  Walko’s time at the top of the charts was short lived, as Rusty Smith hit the speedway and blistered off a lap of 13.627 second.

Paul Koehler held the fastest lap laid down in the late model portion of time trials until the eleventh qualifier took the stage.  Joe Hoffman took to the speedway and hooked up well to the racing surface for a 14.525 lap time.

Brad Kline held the street sock provisional pole until Chip Wanamaker ran a lap of 15.885, which was the only street stock time in the 15-second bracket.  Former track champion, Scott Meckes took his timed run in Josh Oswald’s car after losing a transmission during warm-ups.

Jeff Searfoss appeared to have the quickest time in the thriller division- that was until tech.  Following inspection, Nick Ross was presented with the Vic’s Trophies fastest time award with a lap of 17.026.

Coming off a terrific season, Nikki Wachs lead-footed her 4 cyl. FWD race car around the track to claim the fastest speed with a lap of 17.584.

The field will be inverted for each division on opening day, via numbers that will be drawn from a hat.  The numbers in the hat will be the total amount of driver’s that took time on pole day.  The number drawing will determine how many cars will be inverted for the start of each feature event.

Following consi races for pole day non qualifiers, six feature will run on opening day, which is slated for Sunday, April 13.  The modifieds, late models, street stocks, thrillers, 4 cyl. FWDs and ATQMRA midgets will take the stage for their action packed feature.  Adult admission is $14.  Children 10 and under are free. Consi races will begin at 2 PM.
