Sundance Vacations Speedway Greeted by Many Racers
Last Friday
February 27, 2009
Many racers, including their family members, fans and members of the
press came out to Edgewood in the Pines Country Club Friday evening
to welcome John and Tina Dowd and the team members of Sundance
Vacations. The “Meet & Greet” was announced following the
announcement that Sundance Vacations, a Wilkes-Barre based company
had teamed up with the 1/3-mile asphalt facility.
Mike Odwazny,
the speedway Chief Steward, took the stage and presented a glimpse
of what the season schedule holds. He also touched on the fact that
all drivers should have a website to help promote his or her race
teams, sponsors and results during the season.
Odwazny welcomed John Dowd, the owner of Sundance Vacations, to the
stage and Dowd gave a brief overview of how a large majority of his
business thrives on Internet marketing and business. He agreed with
Odwazny regarding team websites and has laid out a contingency
sponsorship plan that will help put dollars back into the racer’s
pockets this year.
As long as speedway drivers have a working and up to date website
with a link to the Sundance Vacations Speedway racing page, and if
they carry the mandatory Sundance Vacations contingency sticker on
his or her race car, they are eligible to win $50 per week.
Here’s a simple scenario: Say John Doe wins the modified feature.
John will pull a pill from a hat in victory lane. The driver that
finished the event in the position number that was pulled will win
$50 if they have a valid website and meet the criteria mentioned
above. If for any reason the driver does not meet the criteria, the
money will roll into the drawing for the following race week for the
division. A key point is that not only the luck of the draw is a
factor, but post race tech also comes into play- the driver who
“officially” finishes in the position pulled will win the cash if
they meet the criteria.
Drivers that race in the tour type modifieds, sport modifieds, late
model, street stock, factory stock 4 cyl. FWD and INEX legends
divisions are eligible for the contingency program.
Dowd said that he is a big race fan and his company is present at
many motorsports events throughout the season, as well as other
sporting events. He continued by saying how excited he is about the
upcoming season and is ready to help promote the speedway through
his business, and in turn promote short track racing and the stars
at Sundance Vacations Speedway.
