Sundance Vacations Speedway Announces
$3500 to Win for Upcoming Tour Type Mod Event

Typically the
season ending “King of the Mountain” event at Sundance Vacations
Speedway is the biggest and most prestigious open wheel modified
events on the East coast. The payout is nothing to sneeze at and the
race is long and enjoyable for the fans. This season the speedway
has decided to kick things up a notch and up the winnings for it’s
100-lap events this season, and that also includes this year’s “King
of the Mountain” in October.
The first of
several special extended lap races for the Tour Type Modifieds will
kick off on Saturday, May 9 and the feature winner will pocket
$3500, thanks to Global Risk Management and D&B Towing.
“This is just
one of the ways to show the drivers our appreciation during this
weak economy and the show will be one that the fans won’t want to
miss”, said speedway promoter, Joe Callavini. “There’s a lot of
great racing out there week in and out and the purse increase for
the big shows should add even more competition to the current field
of mods at our facility”.
The 100-lap
races at the 1/3-mile asphalt oval have been more than exciting in
the past. Last season’s champion, Rusty Smith, has secured wins, as
has open wheel modified ace Matt Hirschman. Both are expected to be
in attendance for the May 9 race.
Three-time
modified track champion, Brian DeFebo is expected to be on hand to
vie for the win, as is NASCAR Whelen favorite, Eric Beers.
There are plenty
more 100-lap events scheduled at the speedway this season, including
the annual “King of the Mountain”, which will be 150-laps with even
a bigger prize footed to the winner.
