“Summer RACEFEST” Weeks Ahead at Sundance Vacations Speedway
By Gene Ostrowski
July 5, 2009
The heat of Summer is finally upon us and Sundance Vacations
Speedway is proud to announce its popular “Summer Racefest” program
for the months of July and August. Summer Racefest offers extended
lap races for all divisions, which is spread out over two months.
Autograph and camera nights are scheduled over the first few weeks,
which gives fans the opportunity to meet the local celebrity drivers
and receive autographs and give aways.
The fan appreciation portion of each weekend will take place during
intermission. At that time, fans will have the opportunity to meet
and receive autographs from the speedway’s drivers, who will have
their race machines parked on the speedway. Each week will showcase
a pair of divisions that will be focused upon as art of the fan
appreciation activities. All drivers that plan to participate are
asked to bring hero cards or items to give away to the fans that
show support for them.
Sundance Summer Racefest Schedule
Saturday, July
11-
The Sport Modifieds will race for 75 laps. Mountaintop’s Ricky Ross,
Jr. will try to win his second straight main event, but he’ll have
to out drive fan favorites such as Earl Paules and Zane Zeiner to
reach victory lane. The Street Stocks are also on the card, along
with the 4 Cyl. FWD division, the INEX Legends and Mini Cup cars.
Autograph and
camera night is scheduled for the Sport Modified and 4 Cyl. FWD
divisions. Saturday, July 18- The “Tour Type” Modifieds will race side-by-side for 100-laps with hopes of winning the $3000 jackpot. Rusty Smith has been unstoppable in the extended lap events, but Kyle Ebersole has been on a roll by winning three of four events that he started this season. The Late Models, Factory Stocks and TQ Midgets are on the agenda for the evening and autograph and camera night is slated for the Tour Type Mods and Factory Stocks. Saturday, July 25- With a full field of cars week in and out, the Street Stocks will battle for 50-laps to the checkered flag. Steve Clark is the most recent winner and definitely has a legitimate shot at taking the win, as does nineteen others in what is probably the most competitive division at the speedway. The Sport Modifieds, 4 Cyl. FWD and INEX Legend divisions will also be on hand, along with the EMMR Vintage Cars. Autograph and camera night will feature the Street Stock and INEX Legends Divisions. Saturday, August 1- The popular Late Models will duel for 50-laps. Veteran racer, Jerry Hildebrand leads the win column so far this season with two, but he’ll have to overtake Mike Sweeney, the defending track champion and race winner last time out in order to seal the victory. The Tour Type Modifieds, Factory Stocks and TQ Midgets are also on the card and autograph and camera night is scheduled for the Late Models and TQ Midgets. Saturday, August 8- The INEX Legends will battle for 30-laps and the Sport Modifieds, Street Stocks and 4 Cyl. FWD divisions will also be on hand, along with the Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club. Saturday, August- The lightening fast TQ Midgets will race in twin features and the Tour Type Modifieds, Late Models and Factory Stocks are scheduled to compete. Saturday, August 22- With growing car counts weekly, the 4 Cyl. FWD division will race for 30-laps. Jon Smith is atop the points standings with two wins, but his latest rival, Robert Fink is poised to return to victory lane for the second time this season. The Sport Modifieds, Street Stocks, INEX Legends and Mini Cup cars are also on the card for the evening. Times for Saturday events: Pits Open 2:00 pm | Practice 4:00 pm | Grandstands Open 5:00 pm | Heat Races 6:00 pm
