New Saturday Night Start Time at
Sundance This Season
By: Gene Ostrowski
January 24, 2010
As always, the 1/3-mile asphalt oval will begin the season with
Sunday afternoon racing before making the switch to Saturday
evenings a few weeks into the season. However, the entire
Saturday night program this season will be moved up by one hour.
“Almost half
of our racers come from out of our area”, said speedway
promoter, Joe Callavini. “The earlier start time will allow the
drivers to return home at an earlier hour, plus the fans in the
grandstands should benefit from it as well. On top of that, it
will help parents that bring their children to the speedway and
they should get home at a decent hour to get the kids to bed”.
The new Saturday night start time for the speedway will be 5 PM.
The 2010 season schedule is near completion and will be released
in the upcoming weeks. The schedule will boast five open wheel
Modified events and each will be at least $5000 to win. Other
divisions on the card through out the season are the Sport
Modifieds, Late Models, Street Stocks, Factory Stocks, Four
Cylinder FWDs, ATQMRA Midgets, Pennsylvania Outlaw Legends and
270/600cc Micro Sprints.
Another mid winter enduro is slated for the drivers at Sundance
Vacations Speedway on Saturday, February 27. General admission
is only $5 and children 10 years of age and younger will be
admitted for free.
Sundance Vacations Speedway is just minutes from Hazleton, Pa,
located on St. John’s Road, between Routes 93 and 309.
Grandstand admission for all regular season events is just $10
for ages 11 and older. Children 10 years of age and younger are
admitted for free.
