In conjunction with pole day qualifying on Saturday, a handful of 4-cylinder cars took to the asphalt at Sundance Vacations Speedway Saturday for round no. 3 of the Mountain Madness Enduro Series. When it was all said and done, Sam Ryan of White Haven cruised to his first victory of the season. Scott Hubler led every lap of the PA Outlaw Legends feature en route to his first win of the year. Time trials were also held for the Sport Modified, Late Model and Factory Stock divisions. Their main events are slated for Sunday and the Wingless Micro Sprints are also on the card.

Ken Harper led the 4-cylinder enduro field to the drop of the green flag and held the race lead over Gary Fisher, Ed Michael, Tony Rispin and Justin Dunn.

Sam Ryan quickly worked through the field and moved to third on the fourth circuit. He passed Rispin for second three laps later and then overtook Harper for the lead on lap eight.

Mechanical problems struck Michael on lap 23, which forced him to give up his top five position to head pit side.

Ryan continued out front just past halfway, followed by Harper, Rispin, Bill Rice and Kenny Kleppinger.

Smooth and consistent, Ryan drove off to his first victory of the season over Harper, Rispin, Rice and Mike Harding, who made his first career enduro start.

Scott Hubler sat on the pole for the 15-lap PA Outlaw Legends main event and jumped out to the race lead. Despite being pressured by Carl Jones in the early going, Hubler drove away with the victory. Jones settled for second, followed by dirt racer, Scott Greahte.

Time trials for Sunday’s season opener for what is called the “B program” were also held on Saturday. Scott Brannick ran the fastest Sport Modified time, as did Mike Coll in the Late Models. Paul Morgan, Jr. notched the fastest Factory Stock time. The fast timers will “roll the dice” prior to the features on Sunday to determine the number of positions that will be inverted for the starting lineup.
