Mike Parisi, Greg Harris and Kenny
Harper Score Mountain Madness Wins at Sundance
By: Gene Ostrowski
June 13, 2010
Several
diehard fans and enduro competitors came out Sunday to visit
Sundance Vacations Speedway for round no. four of the Mountain
Madness Enduro Series. When it was all said and done, Mike
Parisi scored his first career victory in the 6/8-cylinder car
division and Kenny Harper took the victory on the 4-cylinder
event. Greg Harris took top honors in the 6-cylinder car/truck
division.
Bill Schwenk started from the pole and quickly surrendered the
race lead to Tom Szoke in the 100-lap 6/8-cylinder enduro. Shawn
Gallucci jumped into the second spot, followed by TJ Kapish and
Mark Martini.
Mike Parisi cracked the top five and ran fourth as the top three
battled for the race lead five laps into the event.
Kapish worked his way to the second spot and began to pressure
Szoke for the lead. He made the pass stick on lap 28 and Szoke
regained the top spot two circuits later.
Parisi began to pressure Kapish for second and on lap 33 Kapish
headed to the pits with a flat tire.
Parisi got the lead on lap 48 when Szoke was forced pit side.
Uncontested over the second half, Parisi went on to score his
first career victory over Greg Harris, Brian Kelly, Kapish and
Sam Morgan.
Harris competed with a truck in the 6/8-cylinder race and his
second place effort gave him the victory in the 6-cylinder
car/truck division, which was held with the 6/8-cylinder
division.
Keith Frankenfield started from the pole and lost the race lead
to Tony Rispin before a single lap was scored in the 100-lap
4-cylinder enduro. With one lap complete, Gary Fisher held
second, followed by Frankenfield, Mark Foreman and Bill Rice.
Foreman worked into the second spot and challenged Rispin for
the race lead. Lap seven clicked off and Foreman was in command.
Meanwhile, Sam Ryan and Kenny Harper cracked the top five.
Foreman looked untouchable through out the event and was pursued
by Rispin, Ryan, Harper and Ed Michael during the early going.
However, Rispin was black flagged for leaking fuel on lap 30.
The change of events moved Rice into fifth.
As the top two began to abuse their tires, Harper slowly closed
in. With only eight laps remaining, he took the race lead and
drove to his second career victory over Foreman, Rice and
Michael.
