mountains of northeast Pennsylvania. The speedway hosts exciting stock
car racing every weekend from April to October, making it one of NEPA's

Verwys Jumps Ship to go Open Wheel Modified Racing
Pat Verwys is a dedicated husband and racer and has won numerous
stock car races, including extra distance enduro
events. He is also a former champion at Mountain Speedway. Pat’s
family has been involved with motorsports for many years and helped
propel his need for speed. This coming season Verwys plans to hang
up full fendered racing and try his hand at the open wheel asphalt
modified ranks.

In its ninth season under the promotion of Hazleton’s Joe Callavini,
Mountain Speedway held its annual awards banquet Saturday at Best
Western Genetti Inn & Suites in Hazleton, PA.
Over
three hundred people were in attendance, including crew members,
friends and family members of racers that compete at the 1/3-mile
asphalt oval in St. Johns, PA. Along with the presentation of
special awards, the end of the year celebration was held to
recognize the top points finishers in a record eleven divisions.
