Mountain Madness from April 30th

Here's to another week of fine weather & racing at Mountain Speedway. Talk about …holy divisions! Man, should've brought the tent for these shows, but all the racing was action packed for sure! I have to thank Mike Odwazny, better known as 2/10 or kid rock up in the booth. He literally saved me & my voice up there. Heck, sometimes he's even a fraction of himself..off to the races.

Tony Hanbury picked up the win in the Balliet's Country Corners modifieds. Don't forget, this is the same guy who won the King of the Mountain in '05. A lot of good runs by great drivers, but let's talk about consistency so far this season. I know it's early on, but Zane Zeiner & that #22 Martinelli team has their act together! With two straight second place feature finishes this season, Zane is poised to get that victory very soon. Welcome to the fast track Zane!

After improving over a number of weeks last season, Mike Coll has finally hit victory lane in the late models. The young driver makes the trip each week from Long Island & has had strong runs so far this season. Tough breaks for a lot of the drivers in the division this week, but, again consistency. Joe Barbush finished 4th in the opener & now 2nd this week. Well Joe, as we all know, consistency wins titles! It's all part of the madness.

It was a rather interesting finish for the street stocks, wouldn't ya say? Chip Wanamaker had the thing won, but a little frame height issue ended that. Never the less, Jimmy Yamelski grabbed the win & the SVS bonus money. Congrats to both drivers on a great show at the end! Now, who has been consistent? Well, Billy Vanderveen in the #19WTS has scored two top 5 finishes in the first two races. He went on to finish 3rd this week. Great job Bill & welcome aboard!

Yep, just another thrilling adventure in the thrillers: Feast or famine baby. Well, Ricky Ross smoked the field in this one, but when that smoke cleared it was Davey Cascioli with the checkered…nice job! A ton of wrecked sheet metal out there, but Steve Hoffman held his own for another top five finish (5th), which makes it his second straight of the season. Welcome to the fast track Steve!

Congrats to Travis Fisher for picking up his first of the year in the 4 cyl. thrillers. That also propelled him to second in the standing! Harry Sager had another strong run, as did Duane Garrison in his first ever 4 cyl. start. The consistent one (or one of them) is the 'Maddawg' Bob Wink. Two races in the books and he has finishes of 2nd and 4th. Nice job Winky. Welcome to Mountain's fast track!

Congrats to all the feature & Mountain Madness winners. Thank you to this season's sponsor, Valley Service Equipment Repair from New Jersey. Without Chris & the gang we would be handing out stickers instead! Tune in next week to see who is 'On the Fast Track' to success in Mountain Madness at Mountain Speedway.
