Mountain Madness from May 20th
Welcome folks…can you believe it? Two modified features, plus one late model, street stock and TRUX feature & the races were completed by 9:30! What a great night of racing, as the weather pretty much cooperated as well.
Congrats to Tim Santee for picking up his first Balliet's Country Corners modified win in more than three years. It was a long time coming & well overdue! It was announced last week that the Mountain Madness award would be given to the driver who was the hard charger. So, that brings us to Matt Clemens. Matt started 14th & finished in 7th, while gaining seven spots from his starting spot. Congratulations on a good run & welcome to the fast track Matt.
The fans in the stands barely used their seats in the second 30-lapper for the modifieds. Brian Defebo had a tough day and was man handling his car around the speedway with a broken rotor. It looked as though Defebo might lose his point lead to Brunnhoelzl, but that all changed when the first two cars were released from contention with a few laps remaining. Rusty Smith took the win and called it a lucky win. Hey, a win's a win! How about rookie sensation, Chris Whitenight? Recently coming off his first top five of the season, Whitenight started up front, drifted back & then worked his way back into second. Here's to a stellar start in '06 Chris! Welcome aboard to Mountain Madness.
There wasn't exactly a full field for the late models, but it was still a good show indeed. A tough break for Billy Pruitt took him out of contention, but a strong run for Joe Hoffman and Barry Gommer. Congrats to Mikey Rodriguez, Jr. on his first win of the season! Especially after a few dismal features this season, it was definitely well deserved! For the turn around performance..welcome to Mountain Madness in '06.
The street stocks displayed another exciting show. Hey, there were a bunch of cautions, but the racing all around the track was fierce! Congrats to Paul Frantz on the win, and also to point leader Scott Meckes and Brad Kline. Either one of those three guys had a legitimate shot for the win on the last lap! How about Robert Fink? It seems like moons ago when he notched his first feature win, but he has looked strong in the last two weeks. For his fifth place effort & best run so far this season, welcome to the fast track Fink! That wins around the corner.
Congrats to all the feature & Mountain Madness winners. Thank you to this season's sponsor, Valley Service Equipment Repair from New Jersey. Without Chris & the gang we would be handing out stickers instead! Tune in next week to see who is 'On the Fast Track' to success in Mountain Madness at Mountain Speedway.
