Mountain Madness from May 27th
Hey there guys and gals! Welcome to this weeks edition of Mountain Madness. What a three wide night of racing Saturday at Mountain's fast track. We all witnessed three wide racing in every single division, and sometimes it even worked out for the drivers! It was also Reading Phillies Night at the track and the first sixty people through the grandstand gate received a free ticket to any home game for the minor league ball club. Thanks to those folks for the participation! This week's column goes out to all the drivers who turned their season around Saturday. Many drivers had stellar runs, which deserves a mention at the very least.
Joe Barbush never got the victory lane photo he wanted, but he did take the late model victory when Mike Rodriguez was a little light on the scales in post race tech. Congrats to Joe, as he claimed his first feature win since '04! How about Joe Brown? Man, the guy comes out with Jim Brown, stayed out of trouble and had a great second place effort. This week's driver on the fast track is Frankie Katona. Katona might not be a contender week in and out, but he did record a top 5 finish and sit second in the overall standings! Welcome to Mountain Madness Frank!
Scott Meckes is the man to beat in the street stock division, there's no doubt there, as he notched his second win of the season. Norm Barnes, Paul Frantz and Brad Barbush had strong runs as well, but couldn't track down the leader. The guy who finished fourth is also fourth in the standings. Since his injury last season, Eric Danyluk has had his share of bad luck. However, he's been turning things around. For his fourth place run, welcome aboard Mr. Danyluk!
Another exciting thriller feature had if not the crowd on their feet, at least the announcer's were! Man alive, three, sometimes four wide racing at times kept things interesting throughout the entire race. Kevin Makarewicz has an outstanding run enroot to his third place finish. Congrats to Billy Price on the well earned win and welcome to the fast track Steve Shultz. That second place effort s your personal best of the season and that elusive win has to be right around the corner!
Last, but not least…the four cylinder thrillers. What a race, right until the very end! Harry Sager tried to make it four for five in feature wins this season, but it didn't happen this week. Congrats go out to rookie sensation, Joe Sherman. The quiet one in the race shot around the leaders as they made contact in three and four. It was also his first career win. Jamie Damon lost by only a nose. Although he's probably disappointed, the near win, along with moving to eighth in the standings puts him on the fast track to success at Mountain Speedway!
Congrats to all the feature & Mountain Madness winners. Thank you to this season's sponsor, Valley Service Equipment Repair from New Jersey for all of their support. Tune in next week to see who is 'On the Fast Track' to success in Mountain Madness at Mountain Speedway.
