Mountain Madness from June 3rd

Well, here we are…eight weeks already in the books! Man, how time flies when you're having fun. Again, have to say thanks to everyone for a great week of racing. By looking at the forecast for Saturday, things didn't look too promising, but the entire show was run and the last feature was completed at 8:45..not too shabby! Gotta say thanks again for all the help this week in the booth to "Mr. Fraction of himself", 2/10…Kid Rock, Mike Odwazny….or is it "Willie Wynn"?

So, onto racing..Balliet's Country Corner's modified style! Congrats to Eddie Brunnhoelzl III on a great win! He held off Brian Defebo, then Rusty Smith over the closing laps to snatch the well deserved win. Nice runs as well by Wayne Szerencsits and Chaz Serman, but the guy who has been impressive over the last few weeks is Andy Walko. Andy had a shot at the win a few weeks ago and had a little help losing that one. This week, Walko proved it was no fluke that he can ride up front and finished 3rd. Welcome to the fast track!

Wow, just when ya thought there might be a caution-free late model race…look out! This one was filled with action, regardless of the car count. Only eight drivers, but four lead changes overall set the pace for a good show. Congratulations to Mike Coll, who picked up his second win of the year. Although they encountered problems in the race, Beau Drobot and Joe Barbush had strong runs, as did Joe Oliver in a Riverhead charger! On the fast track??? Well, that would be Joe Brown in the #15 late model. Where did this guy come from? He finished 2nd the last two weeks and as long as he stays out of trouble, he will be in victory lane. Welcome aboard Joe!

Brad Barbush finally didn't finish second in the street stocks! A big attaboy to him for picking up his first win in almost two years! Scott Meckes beat out Paul Frantz and extended his point lead by a few markers with a good run. So, who is it this week? Well, I think with the adversity Jim Yamelski had to overcome so far this season has been impressive. Jim missed a week of racing and has one win, but also had to overcome a few car problems from damage suffered over the last few weeks. For the second place effort…welcome to Mountain Madness Jammin' Jimmy!

The four-cylinder thriller action was just as wild as usual. YES, even with only ten cars this week! Congrats to Jamie Damon on his first career win! Doesn't it feel good to win this one after that heartbreaker last week (don't ask Joe Sherman that, LOL)! Nice runs by Bill Halstead and Coltin Judge. Judge's finish of 6th is his best of the season thus far. Well, there's a driver who missed a week, sits 5th in points and just had his best run of the season after a string of top 5's. Who might that be? Duane Garrison! Welcome to the fast track Duane.

Congrats to all the feature & Mountain Madness winners. Also, thanks to this season's sponsor, Valley Service Equipment Repair from New Jersey. All their support is greatly appreciated! Hey, if you see Chris and the Gang from Valley in the stands or pits…stop by & say hello to them. Tune in next week to see who is 'On the Fast Track' to success in Mountain Madness at Mountain Speedway.
