Mountain Madness from July 1st
Hey folks! So, here we are, just about half way through the season all ready & things are looking pretty good as far as point battles are concerned. We'll take a closer look at that over the next week or so, but I have to ask how everyone enjoyed Saturday's action at Mountain Speedway…Well, if you missed it, you've missed a lot. Fireworks on & off the track set the stage for a fun night. So here we go:
Two week in a row now the late model feature went caution free! Can you even imagine? Heck, these guys would even wreck during warm ups a few weeks ago (just kidding). Seriously, Mike Rodriguez, Sr. has played a role in it over the last couple of weeks and deserves some credit. He's been working with the drivers in the pits & on the radio and it seems to be paying off. Now, off to the feature! Congrats to little Rodriguez on his second win of the season, but congrats also go out to Mike Coll. Coll finished fifth, but has been consistent and maintains his points lead. For your fine effort, along with consistency, welcome back to the fast track Mr. Mike.
The street stock feature might have been led wire-to-wire by Todd Geist, but the racing was great. Congrats to Geist on the victory, and also to his teammate, Chip Wanamaker on a strong run. Scott Meckes holds the point lead with his third place finish and Danyluk was right behind to finish fourth. So, who's on the fast track? Well, the fifth place driver stared in the 13th spot and passed eight cars to finish there. I'm sure it's not the finish he was looking for, but yet another solid top five. Welcome aboard Brad Barbush!
The thrillers are sure living up to the division name over the last few weeks. With four legitimate drivers ready to pounce on the win, some of them began pouncing on each other. When it was all said and done, Mike Moyer, Jr. found victory lane in only his fourth start…congrats! Hey, there's one girl (did that give it away) that has had some horrible luck this season, even after having some kids beat the monkey that's been on her back. Maybe not the finish she anted, but the 7th place finish for Marissa Nelmes puts her on the fast track to success at Mountain Speedway.
Winky grabbed the win in the four cylinder thrillers. It was his best finish since his second place effort on opening day. It's about time! After getting sprayed with silly string in victory lane, he retuned the favor the following day at the NEETS race. Gee, thanks guys! How about poor Fluffy White? Glad to see she was okie dokie after landing on her lid at the finish. Oh yes, the award…Joe Grocholski was last season's champ, but has only run a handful of events this season. He started in the 15th spot & finished fifth, passing ten cars along he way. Great job & welcome to Mountain Madness in '06 Groho.
Congrats to all the feature & Mountain Madness winners. Also, thanks to this season's sponsor, Valley Service Equipment Repair from New Jersey. All their support is greatly appreciated! Hey, if you see Chris and the Gang from Valley in the stands or pits…stop by & say hello to them. Tune in next week to see who is 'On the Fast Track' to success in Mountain Madness at Mountain Speedway.
