Mountain Madness from August 19th

Another interesting day at Mountain Speedway, that's for sure! Well, even with showers in the area, we managed to get somewhat of a show in, which is better than nothing. The downfall to the weather is that no matter what, practically everyone loses. The upside: it gives me the opportunity to walk around and talk with more folks…with all of that said, Everyone still hates rain on race day and NO, rain and racing do not mix!

The first and only completed feature hit the speedway and what a great battle up front between Ross, Cascioli and Bott. A few drivers worth mentioning is Owler, Makarewicz and of course Shultzie. Nice runs by all. Sorry to see Marissa have problems, after all, I took a few laps drying the track in her car & tried to persuade her into switching jobs for the night, but it didn't happen. Thanks for the opportunity to drive a car again, even if it was in the rain! One thing though…gotta move the seat, LOL!

Oh yeah, back to racing…tough break for the championship chase: Josh Oswald and Bill Price. Both drivers however rebounded with top ten runs. On the fast track? Dr. Destruction, Howie Bott took a little time off, and then bought a new ride from Joe Cooper/Mike Skelly. A set of consecutive third place runs puts him on the fast track this week at Mountain Speedway…congrats!

Now to the late models… Yes, even though features weren't run, there are still awards! Cutting to the chase, it has to be "Oh No" Beau Drobot on nailing down the late model heat win only a week after losing his father. Not only did he return to the speedway because he knew that's what dad would want, but also what he did was in style, as he beat last year's champion, Larry Fisher to the stripe! Congratulations!

A full-modified field was slated for the evening, but unfortunately never took the green. Two drivers on a mission late in the season are Full Bore Motorsports drivers, Chip Wanamaker and Tommy Flanagan. Both with top ten finishes last week, along with finishing one-two in the heat race this week puts them on the fast track in the division. Yes, sharing a trophy? Be nice, take turns and along with it, congratulations!

On to the street stocks: So four laps were scored…big deal? Not really. Although it was another start from the pole after winning a heat race, Jimmy White, Jr. is becoming a little less aggressive and more patient. Leading four laps of a feature without problems for a young rookie is an accomplishment. With veterans like Babula, Frantz, Barbush and Wanamaker behind him for the make-up should tell the tale. For his second heat race win of the season, along with the feature laps led…welcome to the fast track Jimmy!

Hey, wish the night could have been better to the drivers, crew & their fans, but thanks to everyone for sticking things out! We'll get Mother Nature next time around!

Congrats to all the feature & Mountain Madness winners. Also, thanks to this season's sponsor, Valley Service Equipment Repair from New Jersey. Good luck to all and tune in next week to see who is 'On the Fast Track' to success in 'Mountain Madness' at Mountain Speedway.
