Mountain Madness from August 21st
Well, I'll have to make this one short & sweet. The 'Big Dog' show was a huge success, and it wouldn't be fair to only mention a few people who took part in that. So, congrats to everyone involved! Thank you to Mike Odwazny for the commentary help in the booth. Now, that was a good time! We can't forget to thank the co-sponsors for the event: National Auto Exchange, Finish Line Racing Parts, D&B Towing and Balliet's Country Corners. And, we can't forget to thank Erica and Jocelyn from the Diamond City Dancers from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers arena football team for coming out, helping out, and spending time at the track. Check out the Pioneer's site at: www.wbspioneers.com.
The modified feature was just a little exciting, LOL...OK a lot exciting. After that big crash early on, fans got to witness plenty of drivers like Defebo, Beers, Reed and others race their way back toward the front. Speaking of that crash, tough break for Markovic, who also won one of the 25-lap qualifiers the previous week. Congrats to Donny and Lindsey Hartzell. Heck, they got married Saturday and were at the track bright and early Sunday for the Big Dog! On top of that, Hartzell had a really good run after winning last week's second 25-lap qualifier. The fans love their Beers'...congrats to Eric on a spectacular win! My apologies go out to 'Pistol" Pete Brittain. It seems that every time he runs Mountain, I screwed up the spelling of his name in the press release! This week there are actually two drivers 'On the Fast Track'. I'll explain: The awards are presented this week in all three divisions to the 'hard chargers', who advanced the most positions during the race. Congrats to Kory Rabenold and Marissia Niederhauer! Both young drivers are on the fast track to success at Mountain Speedway after picking up 13 positions throughout the 100-lap show.
The 30-lap street stock feature was also quite the fantastic event itself. The drivers knew that it wasn't really for points and they let it hang out. Tough break for Paul Frantz, who was involved in an incident early on, and congrats to Jim Yamelski, who picked up the win after a few disappointing weeks. Who is on the fast track you ask? Well, that would be Chip Wanamaker, for charging from the back all the way up to fourth....advancing 13 spots! Congrats Chip & welcome back to the 'Fast Track'.
The thrillers hit the stage last for yet another nail biter. Congrats to Billy Price, who was back in victory lane at the end of the show, but the battle for second on back was vicious. It was great to see some new cars out there on the speedway as well, for their first trip around Mountain this season. So, drivers on the fast track you ask? Why stop here with the hard chargers? There were two in the thriller division who advanced seven positions: Duane Eidem and Richard Petey. Congrats, and welcome to the thriller fast track for '05!
Congrats to all the drivers who are ‘on the fast track’ to success at Mountain Speedway! You can pick up your awards at the photo booth after the drivers meeting. See you soon at Mountain Speedway for more Friday night thunder. Tune in next week for more ‘Mountain Madness’, brought to you by Valley Service Equipment Repair, J&J Contractors and CAD Visers, Inc.
